URL Cloaking is the art of showing your visitors an internal link when they click over an affiliate link. URL cloaking is also known URL redirection or web forwarding, where one assigns another URL to a particular site besides its original address. In URL Cloaking your domain name remains same in the address bar of web browsers and visitors would not see the forwarded web address in their browsers at all. URL cloaking help to visitors navigate your site more effective.
There are various ways of URL cloaking. Some of them are listed below.
301Redirect:
The most common URL cloaking is 301 Redirect. This allows you the ability to send link traffic to a neighborhood without actually linking to it. 301 Redirect is the most efficient Search Engine Friendly method for URL cloaking. The code “301″ is interpreted as “moved permanently”. You can use 301 Redirect in many situations some of them are listed below.
• To redirect an old website to a new address
• To setup several domains pointing to one website
• To enforce only one version of your website (www. or no-www)
HTML Redirect:
One of the ways is to use a simple HTML redirect. This is a client-side redirection and tells the browser to request another page. You can simply add the following code.

The number preceding the URL (in this case zero) tells the browser the number of seconds to wait before redirecting to the new URL. You can change the number of seconds you want the browser to wait before redirecting. You can add some optional text to your page something like: “Please wait while we redirect you to our new site.”
Advantages of URL Cloaking:
- Webmasters use URL cloaking to get more visitors in various ways.
- It is easy to setup and use.
- You can use multiple sites through one interface.
- You can see which links generate the most clicked, which link generate less clicked.
- It ranks your site higher and stops hijackers to steel your earned affiliate commissions.
